Introduction
The Diploma in Business Information Technology is designed to provide participants with the competency in integrating both business and Information Technology (IT). Individuals with this combination of skills will be highly sought after in the job market in Singapore and elsewhere.
The programme has taken a holistic approach to provide an enriching learning experience through diversity complemented by realistic and practical trainings. Topics include Principles of Marketing, Operations and Quality Management, Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurship and Intrapreneurship, Web and Animation, Digital Printing and PDF Technology .

Accreditation
The Diploma in Business Information Technology is developed by Centre for Professional Studies (CPS) and moderated by Entrepreneurship Institute Australia (EIA). CPS is a registered private school with MOE, Singapore. EIA is accredited by the South Australian Government under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) which guarantees academic rigour and very high standards. The AQF provides a nationally consistent framework for all qualifications issued by higher education institutions including universities. EIA is based in Adelaide, South Australia.

Programme Outline and Duration
This part-time Diploma in Business Information Technology programme consists of 8 modules can be completed in 8 months. Participants are expected to attend classes once to twice a week which may include weekend. Participants will be involved in interactive lectures, group discussions, activities and exercises.

Core Modules
ENT-110 Entrepreneurship and Intrapreneurship
This module will introduce the framework of business management from the entrepreneurship perspective. This module enables participants to evaluate trends in thinking about core entrepreneur qualities like risk management, making accurate corporate decisions and managing growth. The emphasis will be on how new economic, social and technological trends can be turned into opportunities through a process of critical thinking and innovation.
BIT-110 Digital Printing
This module will provide a good understanding to the digital printing world – one that is elusive to many people. We cover the software used by professionals in the industry and share many trade secrets that will amaze you. We equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge to produce professional quality, full-colour documents on commercial colour printing presses. Besides, this module also covers the essentials of capturing images with digital camera.
BIT-111 Web and Animation
This module clears the air of what web publishing is all about. We start the participants from ground zero to finally building a fully workable website. We emphasise and share what constitutes a good website and warn participants of potential shortcomings. Topics include site planning, designing web pages and adding animation.
BIT-112 PDF Technology
This module will equip participants with the necessary skills to distribute and share documents reliably. The creation, combining and managing Adobe PDF documents are covered in this module. Participants will also learn how to apply document control and security.
Major Modules
FIN-110 Accounting and Finance
This module covers the use of accounting and financial information for management and work functions planning. Topics include elements of costing, absorption and marginal costing, cost-volume-profit analysis, standard costing, project budgeting and cost control. Workers, managers and entrepreneurs will understand the use of accounting information for planning and control and decision-making. Topics include relevant costing, performance evaluation involving return on investment, transfer pricing, and budgetary control.
HRM-110 Human Resource Management
This module provides an overview of the role and function of human resource management in modern organisations. Topics include human resource planning and functions; job design and analysis, recruitment and selection, compensation and rewards, training and development, performance appraisal; human resource systems and technology, organisational change, international human resources issues.
MGT-110 Operations and Quality Management
The objective is to help develop an understanding of its history, tomorrow’s challenges and the major factors likely to shape the structure of tomorrow’s production systems. Students will be exposed to the different frameworks of studying operations management and production as organisational functions. Topics covered include the survey of forecasting methods, quality control, material requirement planning, JIT manufacturing, and so on. A list of topics and an approximate timetable is appended at the end of this outline. Note that the approach is qualitative but some contents are quantitative in nature. Consequently, the use of simple algebra and introductory statistics is unavoidable.
MKT-110 Principles of Marketing
This module equips participants with the basics of contemporary marketing to put them on the cutting edge of modern marketing. It provides an integrated introduction to marketing. A managerial approach is employed to build a broad basic range of skills needed to sense, serve and satisfy customer needs now and in the emerging century. Key topics include the environmental forces affecting the marketing process, tools used by modern marketers and the key ‘P’s of marketing.
Assessment
At the end of each module, participants will complete an examination and submit an assignment. Some modules may require participants to participate in class presentation during lesson.
Award

Participants are required to complete all the core modules before advancement to do the major modules.
Participants will receive a Certificate in Information Technology upon successful completion of all the core modules.

The Diploma in Business Information
Technology is pre-approved by the Skills development Fund (SDF).
SDF was formed with the primary objective of encouraging employers to invest in skills upgrading of the workforce. The SDF does this by offering assistance as an incentive to companies to mount training programmes for employees.
Participants will be eligible for an SDF training support of 80% of the total course fee if they fulfill the SDF requirements:
